The Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of seven journalists from Gombe State who lost their lives in a fatal road traffic accident.

In a condolence message issued on Monday and signed by its Chairman, Tukur Hassan Dan-Ali, the union described the deaths as a significant loss to the journalism profession, not only in Gombe State but across the country.

According to the statement, the deceased journalists were professionals known for their dedication and commitment to the practice of journalism, adding that their demise came at a time when their services were most needed in the industry.

The Katsina NUJ extended its condolences to the Gombe State Council of NUJ, the families of the deceased, and the national leadership of the union, praying for Allah to grant the departed journalists eternal rest in Jannatul Firdausi and to give their families the strength to bear the loss.

Meanwhile, the union also sympathised with a former General Manager of Katsina State Radio, Alhaji Nasiru Ismaila Kira, whose residential house was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Monday.

The fire incident reportedly occurred at Barhim Housing Estate in Katsina metropolis, razing the property and destroying valuables.

The NUJ prayed that Allah compensates the former radio chief with better replacements for the losses suffered and called on relevant authorities and emergency agencies to investigate the cause of the fire and provide necessary assistance to the affected family.
